Child Care Support Services supports high quality child care in our community through referrals to parents, and professional development and business resources to child care programs in Otsego County.
What does Child Care Support Services do?
Child Care Support Services is the Child Care Resource Center for Otsego County. This program provides child care referrals to parents seeking a registered or licensed program within Otsego County. Child Care Support Services is the Registrar for Family Day Care, School Age Child Care, and Small Child Care Centers, and the Legally Exempt Enrollment Agency for Otsego County. The program provides training and technical assistance to registered, licensed, legally exempt and potential child care providers and programs. Services are also available for Otsego County employers and the community.
What Is a Child Care Resource Center?
Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) serves as a bridge between families, providers and the community with a focus on ensuring that every child receives the best possible child care available. Child Care Resource Centers can be found in every county in New York State and are funded by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
For parents and families Child Care Support Services provides:
- Free child care referrals to registered and licensed programs in Otsego County through our free on-line child care referral portal, calling our office, e-mailing us a Child Day Care Referral Intake Form, or walking into our office.
- Information on help paying for child care
- Help finding community resources to meet their individual needs
For Child Care Providers Child Care Support Services provides:
- Listing in our child care referral database
- Help with business resources, developmentally appropriate practices, child care and regulatory questions

For Community and Employers Child Care Support Services provides:
- Child care supply and demand information
- Statistical information
- Assist organizations and businesses that recognize the importance of being sensitive to their employee’s child care needs
Child Care Support Services is the Child and Adult Care food Program sponsor for Family and Group Family Day Care homes
The Child and Adult Care food Program (CACFP) reimburses for meals and snacks served to children up to age 13 enrolled in child care homes. The major focus of CACFP is to serve nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children enrolled in child care homes. All day care home providers meeting eligibility guidelines may take part in CACFP. CACFP will reimburse child care providers for meals and snacks they provide to children enrolled in their child care program. The CACFP sponsoring agency will provide training and support in nutrition, feeding children, and buying and cooking food.
