The Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) promotes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly Food Stamps) through: community outreach, collaboration with local social agencies; formal NOEP presentations to a diverse array of social/business agencies and clubs; direct client assistance involving “pre-screening” for potential program eligibility and extensive help in applying for and maintaining benefits; and support/advocacy for clients as they navigate the system with the bulk of the time committed to direct client assistance.

This program offers free, confidential, one-to-one services that help food-insecure residents within Schenectady County get nutrition assistance with SNAP. Our NOEP Coordinator helps program applicants complete and submit their SNAP (food stamp) application, works with local government offices to ensure that each application is processed correctly, and refers those in need to other community resources as appropriate.
