Summer Food Service Program for Youth
What is the Summer Food Service Program?
During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-priced meals through their school meal programs. However, food insecurity becomes prevalent in families with school-aged children when the school year ends. The Summer Food Service Program helps alleviate the nutritional gap and makes meals accessible to children through age 18, no questions asked.
What does the Summer Food Service Program offer?
During July and August, Catholic Charities sponsors, with the support of the First United Presbyterian Church of Oneonta (the Red Door Church), the Summer Food Service Program, provides food to all children through age 18. Lunches are served Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 11:30 am. There are no income requirements, and no information will be collected from those served.

The Summer Food Service Program volunteers make it possible for a free lunch to be served to children Monday through Friday during the months of July and August. Volunteers prepare the meals, transport them to the park, serve the meals, and clean up. People can choose to volunteer for part of the program, such as preparation or transport, or for the whole process. We welcome volunteers for a day, a week, or the whole summer and appreciate whatever you can do.
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
