Catholic Charities Tri-County Services offers a wide range of essential services designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals and families across Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties. Our programs support people of all ages, from infants to seniors. Helping individuals access essential human needs such as food, shelter, and safety is at the heart of our mission, as we empower them to grow, thrive, and reach their fullest potential.

The Catholic Charities Housing Office (CCHO) provides affordable housing and comprehensive services for individuals and families facing homelessness. Our programs are focused on delivering long-term, stable housing solutions designed to address the unique needs of individuals and families experiencing housing instability.

The programs and services available from CCHO include the following:

  • Affordable Family Housing - Located in Albany and Rensselaer counties and targeted to households that have income below 60 percent of the area medium income (AMI). Preference is given to veteran households.

  • Family Apartment Programs - This program offers a range of more than 20 scattered-site apartments, presenting permanent and cost-effective housing solutions. Several apartments are designated for homeless families and include case management services, while others simply offer a low-cost housing option without additional supports.

  • Rapid Rehousing - Help for individuals/families that require rental subsidies to move toward self-sufficiency. Subsidies are time-limited and available in Fulton, Montgomery, Herkimer, Otsego, and Schoharie counties.

  • Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Residences - Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Residences throughout the Capital Region that offer permanent housing for those who are homeless and in need of low-cost housing with supportive services. Services include case management, meal programs, information, and referrals.

  • Program Description (Location Specific): Community Maternity Services was founded in 1971 as a single residential program providing services to pregnant adolescents. The agency has grown through the years to meet the changing needs of the children, adolescents, and families in our communities. Today, CMS provides a continuum of services, including parent education for pregnant and parenting adolescents and/or young parents in rural counties, unique residential programs for youth in foster care, supportive counseling for at-risk students in two schools in Albany, and parenting education groups for parents with special needs. Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) - Supervised and supported housing for youth who are in foster care. The agency has grown through the years to meet the changing needs of the children, adolescents, and families in our communities. Today, Community Maternity Services provides a continuum of services, including care for pregnant and parenting adolescents and their families, group residence and family care for children, foster care services, and respite services.
